Our name
The name Niu Grills is designed with intention. In Fijian, “niu” means coconut, a cornerstone of local cuisine and culture. At the same time, it is pronounced “new,” symbolizing the introduction of smokehouse dining as a fresh concept in Fiji. This dual meaning reflects both respect for tradition and a commitment to innovation.
Our Advantage
Niu Grills takes pride in being among Fiji’s very few smokehouses. Our menu highlights dishes that are not commonly found locally, such as smoked brisket and a wide variety of grilled meats. While we do not claim exclusivity, we value the opportunity to bring a distinctive smokehouse experience to Fiji’s growing culinary scene.
Our beginning
Niu Grillz started out in 2016 as a small vendor at Suva’s ROC Market. What began as a humble stall serving smoked meats quickly gained a loyal following, thanks to its unique flavors and friendly atmosphere. That grassroots start laid the foundation for Niu Grillz to grow into a full restaurant, now recognized as one of Fiji’s few smokehouses.
